Outline the main geographical processes relevant to Coastal Management.
There are many main geographical processes relevant to Coastal Management. Some of these are erosion which is sediments in the ocean brushing along with rocks along the coastline therefore creating a receding coastline. Another one is longshore drift. Longshore drift is the transportation of sediments which is generally sand up and along the beach front. Another is abrasion which is mechanical scraping of rock surface by friction between rocks and moving particles by wind, waves, etc. Attrition is the sea bed weathering itself down by sediments being transported through the water. Constructive waves are waves which deposit sand and sediment onto the beach therfore making the shoreline larger and Destructive waves take sand and sediment away from the beach and shoreline making it gradually smaller. These are only some of the many geographical processes relevant to Coastal Management.
